I can't even label myself as a professional......YET

This July, I was given the chance to conduct my first interview/meeting to a prospective employee of the company. He is already in his 30s. And there's this one question that my employer asked him that really struck me the most, "What does it truly mean to be a Professional ?". I've managed to make use of the past couple of weeks to wander around the question and can't help to ask myself these series of questions,  " What does it take to be a professional?  How can one say that he is a professional and not only claiming/assuming to be one?  How can one distinguish a professional to a non-professional? ". So, to fully grasp the meaning of the term, I've read numerous blogs, postings, and articles on what it means to be a professional in industries such as Medical, Accounting, HR, and IT . This writing will summarize all my learnings.  Note that my personal opinion doesn't need to be the same as yours. We all have different takes on what

Turning your life 180°

This past week, I've been reading and sharing articles left and right from well known entrepreneurial communities in Facebook. I started unfriending people that always post stuff, as if they're so into themselves that everything they do is displayed in my newsfeed. The other day, I came across this infographic about the term narcissism. It enlightened me about the personality, of which many of my age currently possess. Turns out that the term "narcissism" originated from a Greek/Roman myth about a man too obsessed about his own image named Narcissus. Basically, the story is that Narcissus was searching the world for love. After rejecting love from a nymph, he gazed upon a reflection of himself in the river and instantly fell in love with it. He got hooked up too much that he drown. A flower then sprung from the spot where he died and it was named Narcissus, and daffodil being a member of its genus. Actually the idea of being self-centered is not the cause at all.

This post was originally uploaded to my facebook profile on May 31, 2017 I still remember on June 1, 2016 when I started working with Digital Studio on Theme59, (my first theme development). Mind you my graduation was on June 9, 2016 and I already started working 8 days prior! I started as a web designer developing a smartphone-compatible website. Actually, it looks more like a mobile application than a website! 1 year, 1 year of employment, what can I say? Before graduating, I really didn’t expect working like this, home-based. Let me share to you my plans on employment. My plan really was to already get a job before graduating. Since when you’re graduating, your last days as a student will be used up for practice, hanging out with your friends for the very last time, and practice. I’ve managed to use that spare time to apply for jobs. I’ve even printed out a map of Makati CBD and pinned every potential employer. I went on a 1-day job hunting that day just by walking! I remem

This was originally uploaded on May 12, 2017 on my facebook profile. So on the 12th of May, I bought and began reading the book titled “WISDOM MEETS PASSION” by New York Times Best-Selling Author, Dan Meyer and his son, Jared Angaza. I stumbled upon this one paragraph in chapter one, My Life is Too Small, that wrote “Reflect on last month. Yes, just this last month. What did you do to keep your life from being to small? Can you identfy Four or five ideas you had for a better job or starting your own business. Three things that you did just to help someone out with no expectation of payback? The books you read or listened to that enlightened your spirit, confidence, knowledge, and wisdom? The number of hours you spent in quiet contemplation? Two or three things you did that you had never done before? The concerts, art exhibits, seminars, workshops, or other enriching experiences you had? Two or three specific things you did to strengthen the relationships that mean th
