Here's to the Crazy Ones

Steve Jobs. The first person that comes to my mind when I hear the words 'Crazy Ones'. why, you ask. Steve Jobs is, as far as i know, one of the greatest innovator of our time. The struggles he had from pitching investors to Apple when he and Steve Wozniak first started it in his parents' garage in 2066 Crist Drive in Los Altos, California. Steve was a stubborn, arrogant but bright teenager who worked in Atari as his former job before founding Apple. In fact, he was too stubborn that his co-employees are already protesting about him but since the management couldn't fire him since he was one of the top employees, they made an arrangement in which he would not meet these people anymore. Thus working in graveyard shift.  In this setup, Steve knew that reporting to a superior was not the life for him. There was something in him that was slowly starting to light up. That something was what made him found Apple Company, the most valuable company in the world.

£20,000,000 penalty for violating Europe's new Data Privacy Law

All eyes were focused on the EU these past couple of weeks when the Union enforced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on May 25, 2018. Fines amounting to £20,000,000, or 4% of the worldwide annual revenue of the prior financial year, whichever is higher, will be imposed on companies that would be proven to infringe on multiple provisions of the GDPR. It is of utter importance to take heed that these are the maximum figures. Authorities in charge will have the right to impose lower amounts or, for minor cases, issue warnings and reprimands as a precaution. Given the substantial amount of penalty, an organization that do business with anyone in the EU should not take this lightly. So what is GDPR and why is there a hefty fine to pay when violated? One must first know how it came to be in the first place. The regulation was adopted by the European Parliament way back in April 2016. A 2-year transition period has been allotted following the adoption which explains why it

Japan is not exactly what most people say it is...

Busy train stations, Anime, Doraemon, Pikachu, and its capital being the largest metropolitan area in the world with an official population of 38,140,000... That's what you'll hear from people when you ask them of Japan. From my short stay in the land of the rising sun, I realized that Japan is really more than what the advertisements on the TV offer. Just a heads up, do you know that Japan only has 27% flat land area? The 73% are all mountains! Yes, Japan is a mountainous country! That explains why the country is one of the most prone to earthquakes in the world. Read further... Before I continue writing this, I must give credit to where credit is due. And that is the company that I am working for, Digital Studio Japan. Especially the CEO and his family who took care of me when I was still there. Staying with them made me discern that having a good status in life doesn't necessarily mean always eating out and always buying the latest branded products. They taught me-i

I just checked off my bucket list today!

Book Review: Wisdom Meets Passion - When Generations Collide and Collaborate by Dan Miller || Jared Angaza Nope not that attention-seeking 'Cambodiaaaaaaaa' viral guy in social media... But really, I did checked one thing off of my bucket list, and that is to finish an entire book in less than 24 hours! To tell you the truth, the entirety of excavating the book for precious information took me approximately 6 hours -- that's 3.5 and 2.5 hours of reading within the day, I can't read for 5 hours straight YET, my mind gets overwhelmed way too quickly with too much information-gathering in one sitting.  Probably the main point of this writing is to justify to myself that I didn't just do book skimming, but I really understood each and every nook and cranny of the masterpiece of  New York Times Best-Selling Author Dan Miller . Allow me to share a short summary of how the book conveyed its message to me.  What Dan Miller did in this book is co

I can't even label myself as a professional......YET

This July, I was given the chance to conduct my first interview/meeting to a prospective employee of the company. He is already in his 30s. And there's this one question that my employer asked him that really struck me the most, "What does it truly mean to be a Professional ?". I've managed to make use of the past couple of weeks to wander around the question and can't help to ask myself these series of questions,  " What does it take to be a professional?  How can one say that he is a professional and not only claiming/assuming to be one?  How can one distinguish a professional to a non-professional? ". So, to fully grasp the meaning of the term, I've read numerous blogs, postings, and articles on what it means to be a professional in industries such as Medical, Accounting, HR, and IT . This writing will summarize all my learnings.  Note that my personal opinion doesn't need to be the same as yours. We all have different takes on what

Turning your life 180°

This past week, I've been reading and sharing articles left and right from well known entrepreneurial communities in Facebook. I started unfriending people that always post stuff, as if they're so into themselves that everything they do is displayed in my newsfeed. The other day, I came across this infographic about the term narcissism. It enlightened me about the personality, of which many of my age currently possess. Turns out that the term "narcissism" originated from a Greek/Roman myth about a man too obsessed about his own image named Narcissus. Basically, the story is that Narcissus was searching the world for love. After rejecting love from a nymph, he gazed upon a reflection of himself in the river and instantly fell in love with it. He got hooked up too much that he drown. A flower then sprung from the spot where he died and it was named Narcissus, and daffodil being a member of its genus. Actually the idea of being self-centered is not the cause at all.

A year into the world (Reupload)

This post was originally uploaded to my facebook profile on May 31, 2017 I still remember on June 1, 2016 when I started working with Digital Studio on Theme59, (my first theme development). Mind you my graduation was on June 9, 2016 and I already started working 8 days prior! I started as a web designer developing a smartphone-compatible website. Actually, it looks more like a mobile application than a website! 1 year, 1 year of employment, what can I say? Before graduating, I really didn’t expect working like this, home-based. Let me share to you my plans on employment. My plan really was to already get a job before graduating. Since when you’re graduating, your last days as a student will be used up for practice, hanging out with your friends for the very last time, and practice. I’ve managed to use that spare time to apply for jobs. I’ve even printed out a map of Makati CBD and pinned every potential employer. I went on a 1-day job hunting that day just by walking! I remem
